Dear Families:
Although New York City Public Schools are open tomorrow, SAINT MARK CATHOLIC ACADEMY WILL BE CLOSED. While the schoolyard and sidewalks around the school are in the process of being cleaned and plowed, our primary concern is the safety of our students, faculty, and staff who have to travel to school tomorrow.

Students in kindergarten and grades 1-8 will participate in remote learning tomorrow, Tuesday February 24, 2026.
If your child does not have his or her Chromebook, that's fine. Google Classroom can be accessed from any device or computer. (See specific directions below.)
While online, students should adhere to all school rules, as if they were actually in the building. While uniforms are not required, appropriate attire is still expected.
The day should end before noon, the latest, so children have the rest of the day to enjoy the snow!
Have a safe day! Stay warm!
Mr. Wilson
PS: As we did last time, feel free to email me mwilson@smsonthebay.com with any questions; you can also email me mwilson@smsonthebay.com with some pictures of Saint Mark students engaged in remote learning and having fun in the snow so we can post them on our social media accounts!
Logging Into Google Classroom
You may use any device or computer to log into Google Classroom. All students’ Google usernames are generated in the same fashion: It is the student’s first initial; last name; and the year they will graduate; followed by @smsonthebay.com.
For example:
John Doe is in kindergarten, so his username is: jdoe2034@smsonthebay.com.
Jane Doe is in eighth grade, so her username is jdoe2026@smsonthebay.com
To login, to Google Classroom:
Please go to google.com and click the SIGN IN button at the top right. (Please do not go to gmail.com. Students do not have access to email, so you will get an error message.)
Enter your child’s username and click NEXT.
Enter your child’s password and click NEXT. (If you need your password reset, please email Mr. Wilson.)
If necessary, read the agreement and click ACCEPT.
Click the “waffle” (nine square boxes) at the top right to open up the menu screen.
Click the Google Classroom icon (looks like a chalkboard).
If this is your child’s first time signing in, then click CONTINUE.
Then choose student.
If your child’s Google Classroom appears click JOIN.
If your child’s classroom does not appear, please continue on to the following:
At the top right click the plus symbol (+) and click join class.
Then enter in your child’s class code. (If you need a Google Classroom code, please email your child's teacher or Mr. Wilson.)
